James Willard Keeling, of Rockholds, formerly of Salem, Ind., departed this life on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Somerwoods Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Somerset. He was 82 years, 5 months, and 23 days of age. He was born on July 8, 1930, in Humboldt, Ill., to the late Rev. George Keeling and Verna Yates Keeling. He is also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother. He was a veteran having served in the United States Marines and a longtime employee of Ropers & Lion Apparel.
He is survived by his loving wife of more than 45 years, Carol Sutton Keeling, of Rockholds; one daughter, Patricia Tyson (Rich); one son, James Keeling (Regina Foley), of Rockholds; grandsons, Daniel Keeling and Lance Tyson; granddaughters, Brandy Keeling and Valerie Tyson; one great-grandson, Jagger Keeling; several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
The funeral service was Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lester Cox officiating. He was laid to rest in the Sutton-Pemberton Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors were conducted by the American Legion Post No. 88 of Corbin, Kentucky.
