John Lewis Jr., of Jackson, Ga., formerly of the Wolf Creek Community, Williamsburg, departed this life on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at his home. He was 79 years, 9 months, and 24 days of age. He was born on Dec. 13, 1932, in Madison, Ind. to the late John Washington Lewis and Mandy Lewis. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Alpha Mae Lewis; sons, Donald Eugene Lewis and Robbie Lewis; and granddaughter, Veronica Lewis.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Gail Stork, of Jackson, Ga.; two sons, John Lewis III (Shirley Ann), of Temple, Ga. and Andy Ray Lewis (Natasha Owens), of Williamsburg; sister, Rachel Banks, of Indiana; seven grandchildren, Shawn Owens, James Owens, John Lewis IV, Timothy Paul Lewis, Joshua Lewis, William Lewis and Joshua Lewis; three step-grandchildren, Austin Caddell, Devin Caddell and Britney Owens; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Mullins officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Moses Addition of the Pleasant View Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 88 of Corbin.
