CORBIN —
Sandra L. Powers, of Williamsburg, departed this life on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington. She was 62 years, 10 months, and 23 days of age. She was born on Feb. 18, 1950, in Whitley County, to the late Charles Brown and Geneva Rains Brown. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Elsie Young. She was the daughter-in-law of the late Joe B. and Ruth Powers. She was a member of the Cumberland Freewill Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Powers of Williamsburg; one daughter, Michelle Shelley (Todd), of Williamsburg; three granddaughters, Hannah Shelley, Macie Shelley and Maddie Shelley; sister, Vena Croley (Berry), of London; aunt, Christine Singleton, of Williamsburg; two special sisters-in-law, Lee Powers Hensley and Merry Lynn Powers; special family friends, Princess Bowman, Pat Hamblin, Betty Wilson and Wanda Lester; several nieces, nephews, and a host of other family and friends to mourn her passing.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the funeral hour on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel.
The funeral service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Hodge, the Rev. Doyle Lester, and the Rev. Larry Waddell officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Davis Addition of the Highland Park Cemetery.
