Whitley Central Intermediate welcomes new principal

Special to The Times-Tribune

Whitley Central Intermediate’s Site-Based Decision Making Council has selected John Siler as the new principal to replace Alan Sweet, who recently accepted the position of principal at Whitley County High School.

Siler has nine years of classroom experience and several years of business experience — qualities that council members said make him a tremendous asset to Central Intermediate.

Siler began his employment in the Whitley County School District in August 2000. He served as a Y.O.U. teacher, credit recovery teacher, history teacher and has served as basketball coach during his tenure with the Whitley County School System.

“I’m very excited about being given the opportunity to work with the staff and community of WCIS in an administrative role,” Siler said. “The school staff has welcomed me as the new principal and communicated their desires for the continued improvement in the education of the students in our district. I look forward to working with the staff and being of assistance to them in this ever-changing challenge of providing the students with the highest quality of education possible.”

Superintendent Lonnie Anderson added, “John Siler is intensely competitive and has a history of getting the job done regardless of the assignment. I am confident Mr. Siler will continue the tradition of strong leadership in the principal’s position at Whitley Central Intermediate.”

Siler is married to Jennifer McCullah and has one son, Landon.
