Ten Tri-County students selected for Rogers Scholars
Farris Strong of Laurel County, Jordin Huddleston, Gabriela Sadler, Sarah Perkins, Kayla Church, Alex Chumbley and Wayne Logan of Whitley County, Callie Ann Dixon, Rebecca Bolinger, and Jonathan Hubbard of Knox County have been selected to attend The Center for Rural Development’s Rogers Scholars youth leadership program this summer.
Western Kentucky students receive first Undergraduate Library Research Awards
Western Kentucky University students Andrew Alvey of Warren County and Megan Stohner of Whitley County were awarded the first WKU Libraries and University Experience Undergraduate Research Awards last Tuesday at WKU’s Cravens Library.
BGTC Allied Health student from W’burg recognized at ceremony
Heather Meadors of Williamsburg was one of 16 Allied Health students from Bowling Green Technical College who were honored with awards presented at the annual Allied Health Award Ceremony April 6, at the Main Campus of the College.
Local students receive Cumberlands scholarships
University of the Cumberlands has honored the following students as Christian Leadership Scholarship award winners. The scholarship awards students $1,000.
Horns blared and parents cheered as mortarboards, confetti and silly string flew into the air as the class of 2011 graduated from Corbin High School Friday night. About 4,000 people filled The Arena to watch 178 seniors get their diplomas from Principal Joyce Phillips.
Yellow Ribbon Program assists Cumberlands students
University of the Cumberlands (UC) takes great pride in their students and the education that they receive. Though finances can be a hardship for some, there are numerous ways that financial assistance for school can be obtained. At UC, those pursuing a career in the military, or who are children of a military veteran, can receive help from the United States Department of Veteran Affairs through a program called the Yellow Ribbon Program.
‘Unbridled Readers’ recognized at annual Reading Celebration
Students and their families were invited to participate in a night of “Unbridled Reading” at the 2011 Knox County Reading Celebration Tuesday, May 17, at Knox Central High School. Student awards, reading theme rooms, guest authors, and community exhibits were a few of the activities planned.

As a college student, you usually look at Spring Break as a week to get away from everything school related, kick back, relax, and get that much needed rest before you jump head-on into finals week. For a select group of University of the Cumberlands (UC) students, they took that time to compete in numerous competitions over a two week span.
National Society of Collegiate Scholars welcomes Trevor Satterfield
Trevor Satterfield, of Barbourville, has accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS). Trevor will be honored during an Induction Convocation this fall on the campus of Morehead State University.
