The Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jacket golf team continues to have a successful season after placing third in the Central Hardin Invitational.

The Lady Yellow Jackets were coming off a championship finish the week before in the Pulaski County Invitational after they knocked off Glasgow by 12 shots, 325 to 337.

Sacred Heart won the event at Central Hardin by finishing with a 331, while Glasgow shot a 345 and Williamsburg turned in a 347 effort.

Becky Sharpe led the Lady Yellow Jackets with a 76, while Beth Jervis shot an 84, which turned out to be one shot shy of her personal best tournament score. Kayle Akins (88), Julie Higginbothan (99) and Kacie Cox (113) rounded out the scoring for Williamsburg.

When it comes to a district championship game it doesn't get any better than a line drive down the third baseline with two outs to end the game, and that’s exactly what happened as the South Laurel Cardinals pulled off a 3-2 victory over Corbin in the 51st District Championship Wednesday.
