PULASKI COUNTY — Another slow start led to the Corbin Lady Redhounds seeing their eight-game win streak come to an end Saturday.
Rockcastle County jumped out to a 28-19 lead in the first half and withstood a late Corbin (20-8) rally to knock off the Lady Redhounds by six points in the Cancer Awareness Classic.
“We came out very flat again offensively today,” Corbin coach Jennifer Parsons said. “We got down in the third quarter by 14 points and made a run to cut it to one.
“We are making great efforts in the end, but dig ourselves into a hole that we couldn’t come out of today,” she added. “You never want to lose, but I think this loss will be good for us to realize we must play four quarters.”
Corbin had three players score in double figures during the loss with Kayla Wilson leading the way with 18 points while Miranda Wilson (16 points) and Sarah Ashley (15 points) followed.
The Lady Redhounds connected on 22-of-55 shot attempts from the floor while the Lady Rockets connected on 21-of-45.
