PULASKI COUNTY — The Williamsburg Lady Yellow Jacket golf team turned in its second straight impressive effort in tournament play this past weekend by placing second in the Pulaski County Invitational.
The Lady Yellow Jackets shot a 325, which turned out to be eight shots off first place finisher Green County’s 317.
“Green County is the defending All ‘A’ state champions, so we know what we’ve got to beat,” Williamsburg coach Bo Robinson said. “This was a 21-team (invitational) and I thought we did a great job considering we had been rained out twice during the week — that didn’t help out any.
“I thought our girls played very good,” he added. “We hung in there and I feel like we can close that eight-shot gap that Green County had on us. Our best golf is ahead of us.”
Kaylee Akins led Williamsburg with a 79 while Beth Jervis (80), Morgan Walker (81), Julia Higginbotham (85), Kacie Cox (102) and Morgan Owens (107) followed.
