WILLIAMSBURG — The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets fell to 1-2 on the season Monday after dropping a 56-49 decision to the Bell County Bobcats on their home floor.
Williamsburg head coach Patrick Robinson praised his team’s effort, but said in the end his team didn’t do enough to win.
“This was a tough game for us,” Robinson said. “Bell County is physical and tough.
“Our kids played hard, but didn’t make the shots we needed to make to win,” he added.
Williamsburg came out ready to play, holding a 14-12 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 25-22 lead as the first half came to a close.
Bell County rallied the troops in the second half as they outscored the Yellow Jackets 15-13 in the third period to trim the gap to one point with one quarter left in the game.
The Bobcats used a 19-11 fourth quarter rally to pull out the 56-49 win. The Bobcats are 2-2 on the year and have now won two in a row.
