WHITLEY COUNTY — The Whitley County Lady Colonels made quick work of Bell County Thursday, cruising to a 10-0 win at home.
A hat-trick by freshman Allison Jones, a pair of goals each by Josalynn Freeman and Jessica Dennis-Bay and one each by Brittany Fuson, Rachel Moore and Summer Amador accounted for the offensive onslaught.
Lady Colonels head coach Kelly Sawyers said she was proud of her team after the win, but stressed that she felt her squad should have won.
“This was a good win because it was a win we expected to get,” she said. “I was really pleased with the way the girls moved the ball and the way they executed our offense.”
When asked what the game plan was coming into the game Sawyers said her team expected to end the match early.
“We thought that if we couldn’t mercy-rule them it would be a little bit of a letdown,” Sawyers said. “They are a team that hasn’t had a lot of consistency and our kids knew that coming in.”
Whitley County improves to 3-2-1 on the season and get set to face South Laurel Tuesday in a district showdown.
