CORBIN —
By Les Dixon / Sports Editor
The Corbin Redhounds are staring down a road playoff game no matter what after losing to Bell County last week, 34-0.
Now the Redhounds (3-5 overall, 1-2 in district play) are trying to assure themselves at least a No. 3 seed in the Class 3A playoffs with a win over Casey County on the road Friday, but a loss would mean a four-seed and more than likely a road trip to play Louisville Central.
The Rebels are winless in district play at 0-2 and will enter the game with a 3-6 record.
“I know they are down a lot of players and I believe they only dress 20 players,” Jewell said. “I do believe they have one of the top rushers (Alex Bolin) in Class 3A. I know they run the triple option and he carries the ball a ton.”
Jewell said he hopes his team learns from the loss to Bell County last week and can use what they learned against Casey County.
“We’re trying to learn from it right now,” he said. “We don’t want to hold on to it too long, though. We lost last week, but we still have a lot of opportunities ahead of us.
“We know we’ll be going on the road in the playoffs, but we need to build some momentum,” Jewell added. “There’s a chance we might see Bell County down the road again, but right now we’re focusing on this game.”
