FRANKLIN COUNTY — The Corbin Redhound golf team continued its solid play in the 2012 Flyer Classic by turning in a second place finish by shooting a two-day total of 606, 34 shots off from first place finisher St. Xavier.
St. Xavier won the team title with a 572, while Corbin (606), Lexington Christian (613), Paul Lawrence Dunbar (615) and Clark County (626) rounded out the top five.
The Redhound golf players turned in two consistent days of 303 shooting, as Cody Ellis’ 145 total was good enough for a sixth place finish.
Scott County’s Billy Tom Sargent won the event by shooting a two-day total 138.
Corbin’s Conner Maguet placed 15th with a 150 while Alex Davis’ 155 was good enough for a 22nd place finish. Henry Moore placed 25th with a 156 while Luke Cooney shot a 170, good enough for a 61st place finish.

The Corbin Lady Redhounds went into Thursday’s game against Middlesboro riding a five-game win streak and winners of seven of the past nine. The streak didn’t last though, as the Lady Yellow Jackets outplayed Corbin to a tune of 10-0 in five innings.
