PINEVILLE — The Lynn Camp Wildcats took one on the chin Monday, dropping a 72-46 decision to 51st District rival Pineville.
The Wildcats stayed with the Mountain Lions early, trailing 35-26 at halftime, but a 21-6 third quarter effort by Pineville was eventually the difference in the loss.
Justin Hammonds scored 15 for Lynn Camp, while Skylar McFarland and Matt Trosper added 11 in the loss.
Pineville used a 16-14 fourth quarter effort to secure the win.
After the loss, Wildcats’ assistant coach Cody Dixon, who was filling in for his father due to a family illness, said the Wildcats weren’t able to get into a groove on either side of the floor.
“We were in foul trouble from early in the second quarter on,” Dixon said. “It really took us out of our game, but Pineville is a well-coached team with a lot of experience.”
