CORBIN — Corbin coach Jennifer Parsons picked up her 200th career win Friday, as the Lady Redhounds cruised to an easy 62-22 win over struggling North Laurel.
The win, Corbin’s third in a row, improves the red-hot Lady Redhounds to 15-7 in a row.
“I have been very fortunate to be at Corbin where I have had a lot of talented players, supportive parents and great assistant coaches,” Parsons said. “To get this milestone in my career means a great deal to me. This is a special group of players that I have now and I’m pleased I have this memory with them.”
Eleven players scored in the win for Corbin with Miranda Wilson leading the way with 13 points. The Lady Redhounds connected on 26-of-51 shot attempts while the Lady Jaguars were held to a dismal nine-of-36 shooting from the floor.
Corbin also forced North Laurel into 21 turnovers in the game while the Lady Redhounds finished with 14 assists.
Parsons’ squad jumped out to a 14-3 lead in the first quarter and put the game away by outscoring the Lady Jaguars 24-5 during the second quarter while building a commanding 38-8 lead at halftime.
“We came out from the start tonight and played very well,” Parsons said. “We were able to force turnovers and score in transition.
“North is a young team, but they play very hard and are scrappy,” she added. “So, I was glad we controlled the tempo from the start.”
Corbin continued to dominate in the second half by outscoring the Lady Jaguars 16-7, but North Laurel managed to outscore the Lady Redhounds 7-6 during the final quarter of play.
Corbin will be back in action Tuesday on the road against Knox Central before hosting upstart Lynn Camp Friday in a 13th Region matchup.
