CORBIN —
By John Henson / For The Times-Tribune
HARLAN — When the season began, an early 15-0 run against them would have probably been enough to finish off the inexperienced Harlan Green Dragons.
If a 55-48 upset of visiting Barbourville on Monday is any indication, the Dragons are growing up.
Harlan led 10-4 before Barbourville ran off 15 straight points over the next eight minutes. The Dragons answered with a 15-7 run to pull within one, at 26-25, by halftime.
A three-pointer by freshman point guard Drew Parks put the Dragons ahead, igniting a 13-7 run that made the score 38-33 after three quarters. Harlan put the game away at the free throw line.
Parks led the 6-13 Dragons with 11 points. Caleb Hogue, David Allen and Dylan McNiel added seven each.
Senior guard Devon Mills poured in 26 points to pace the 12-8 Tigers.
Harlan travels to J. Frank White Academy on Thursday. Barbourville plays at South Laurel on Saturday.
