Jackets, Lady Jackets turn in impressive showing

The Williamsburg boys’ and girls’ cross country teams placed second and third, respectively, during this past weekend’s Class A, Region 6 cross country meet in Somerset.

Somerset won the boys’ meet by finishing with 24 points, while the Yellow Jackets came in second place with 40 points. Berea turned in a third place showing (93), while Model (99) and Harlan (106) placed fourth and fifth.

Williamsburg’s top finishers were Chris Odell (18:51) and Derek Mills (18:59), who finished in third and fourth place, while Chad Terry (19:44, sixth place) and Bradley Faulkner (20:10, eighth place) finished in the top 10.

On the girls’ side, freshman Sarah Perkins finished in third place (23:28), while Kelsey Hawn turned in a sixth place finish in 24:21.

Somerset won the girls’ team championship by finishing with 41 points, while Model (44 points), Williamsburg (53) and Oneida Baptist (73) rounded out the scoring.
