While the Knox Central Panthers were represented in the 2009 KHSAA Class 2A State Cross Country Meet over the weekend, North Laurel and South Laurel were represented in the Girls and Boys Class 3A Meets.
The Panthers competed in the Boy’s 5K Run and were led by Chase Rose with a time of 18:37.11, which was good enough for 66th place. South Oldham and Covington Catholic took the top two spots in team honors.
Devin Edwards finished with a time of 18:49.18 and Josh Tuttle recorded a time of 18:58.68 as they both finished in the top 100.
Four Panthers finished outside of the top 100 and they were Zak Walker with a time of 19:20.09, Jerry Clark who finished with a 19:45.25, Bradley Smith with a 20:30.45 and Chris Gray with a time of 20:58.04. Knox Central finished in 15th place with a total time of 1:35:30.31 and an average of 19:12.01.
The North Laurel Boys were led by Robert Melton and Layne Gaynor. Melton recorded a time of 17:23.12, which was good enough for 41st and Gaynor finished 46th with a time of 17:29.43.
James Brooks just made the top 100 with a time of 18:14.70 and three other Jaguars finished outside the top 100. Greg Randolph finished with a time of 18:22.44, Clay Montgomery ran a time of 19:46.21 and Jake Creech finished with a time of 20:02.50.
South Laurel was represented by Blake Walden with a time of 19:22.26.
St. Xavier and Daviess County took the top two spots in team action.
The North Laurel Girls were led by Victoria Miller with a time of 22:57.93, which put her in 158th place.
Sidney Herrell finished with a time of 24:57.98. Sacred Heart and Daviess County took the top two spots in team scores.
