The Corbin Lady Redhounds makes the statement, ‘You’ve been served,’ with a 25-5, 25-15 win over Harlan County.

Corbin’s Jamie King hit the century mark in scoring this season thanks to her 12 points on serve during the first set and she added eight more in the second set for a total of 103 on the year.

“Jamie was on fire,” Corbin coach Alicia Elwell said. “She was really on tonight. She was complaining before the game about her serving, but she stepped up once it counted.”

King gave the Lady Redhounds a 12-0 advantage in the first set as Vanessa Wiseman scored two kills and a block, while Mandi Robinson added a kill. Six of King’s points on serve were aces.

Corbin cruised to a 25-5 win in the first set.

Harlan County woke up in the second set and kept it close for a while. Colleen Boggs gave the Lady Black Bears a 5-4 advantage with four points on serve, including three aces.

Wiseman answered for Corbin with four kills and a couple of blocks to rally the Lady Redhounds to a 14-9 lead. Tarah Remey added three kills as Corbin held on for a 25-15 second set win.

“I dreaded the game all week long,” Elwell said. “We talked about playing team ball before the game. They all talked about what they needed to work on individually and I saw them improving on those things tonight.

“Vanessa was pretty fired up too. When she had the opportunity she put it away.”
