LOG MOUNTAIN — Bell County’s Maci Morris continues to show she’s one of the best players in the 13th Region by recording a triple-double (17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists) during the Lady Bobcats’ 78-45 win over Corbin Monday.
The two teams met last week at Corbin with the Lady Bobcats coming away with a 75-55 win.
Bell County jumped out to a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter, but Corbin rallied back in the second quarter and outscored the Lady Bobcats and only trailed 34-28 at halftime.
“I thought we played well in the first half,” Corbin coach Jennifer Parsons said. “It wasn’t bad. I thought our effort was great and we rebounded the ball well.”
But things went south in the second half for the Lady Redhounds.
The Lady Bobcats took advantage of misfired hurried shots from Corbin and led 54-38 with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Bell County put the game away by outscoring Corbin 24-7 during the fourth quarter.
“It’s a disappointing loss, of course, and it shows we’re not where we need to be at the present time,” Parsons said. “Bell County is playing really well right now and you have to give them credit.
“We just took some hurried shots in the second half and they took advantage and the next thing you know, they’re ahead by 15 points,” she added. “We need to regroup and get where we need to be.”
