Former Whitley County Sheriff Lawrence Hodge had a court date in Whitley Circuit Court Monday but he didn’t appear because federal agents were transporting him to an Ohio prison, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Allen Trimble.
Hodge was transported from Grayson County Detention Center to Elkton Federal prison.
Hodge was to appear in Whitley Circuit Court before Senior Judge James Bowling for a pretrial conference related to 21 state charges of abuse of public trust and evidence tampering.
Trimble said the appearance will be rescheduled.
In May, Hodge pleaded guilty to federal charges of money laundering, extortion and drug distribution. On Sept. 28 in London’s U.S. District Court, Hodge was sentenced to 15 and a half years for those federal charges.
