Former Whitley County sheriff Lawrence Hodge appeared in Whitley Circuit Court Monday, according to Commonwealth’s Attorney Allen Trimble.

Hodge, who is now serving his 15 and a half year sentence for money laundering, extortion and drug distribution at Elkton Federal Prison in Ohio, was brought by federal agents to Whitley County for the brief pretrial conference. He appeared with his attorneys before Senior Judge James Bowling.

Hodge faces 21 state charges of abuse of public trust and evidence tampering.

Trimble said Bowling set a final pretrial conference for 11 a.m. on May 7.
