Former Whitley County Sheriff Lawrence Hodge’s mother’s home was searched by federal agents after they received a tip he may have stored cash in a safe there, according to a partially redacted affidavit filed Sept. 15 in London’s U.S. District Court by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives Special Agent Todd E. Tremaine.
The first count charged him with committing extortion while serving as sheriff. Count two charged him with distributing oxycodone and the third conspiring to commit money laundering.
Hodge sentenced to 15 years and 6 months
In U.S. Court in London Wednesday morning former Whitley Sheriff Lawrence Hodge was sentenced to a total of 15 years and six months in prison.
Hodge bookkeeper sentenced
A one-year sentence was imposed Thursday in U.S. District Court in London on Abby Vicky Paul, who once worked as bookkeeper for Whitley County’s former sheriff Lawrence Hodge.
