A Corbin man sought by police in connection to an alleged rape turned himself in to police Friday.

Jerry E. Daniels, 38, was lodged in the Whitley County jail at about 2 p.m. Friday by Corbin Police Detective Bill Rose.

Corbin Capt. Rob Jones said Daniels denies the rape occurred.

Daniels had been sought by the department since Thursday.

Jones said Daniels was “an acquaintance” of the victim. The crime allegedly occurred Monday at Daniels’ former apartment on Kentucky Avenue in Corbin.

According to police, Daniels had since moved out of the apartment and learned of the warrant for his arrest through a friend. Daniels drove back in to town to turn himself in on the first-degree rape charge.
