Emergency responders are on the scene of a Saturday morning fire along Sam Parker Road in Gray.
Initial reports indicate seven people may have died in the fire, including five children and two adults.
The fire at the one-story ranch home was reported about 9:30 a.m. Although firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, reports indicate several people inside the home had perished.
As emergency rescuers worked, traffic along Sam Parker Road was blocked to all but emergency responders and family members of those who were inside the burned home. Those family members gathered in the driveway of a nearby home where they could be seen hugging one another. Periodically the sound of crying was heard.
In a brief press conference, Kentucky State Police Post 10-Harlan Sgt. Jimmy Young said the cause of the fire is undetermined as are the identities of those who perished. The investigation is ongoing.
Among the responding agencies were West Knox, Bailey Switch and Woodbine fire departments as well as the Kentucky State Police, Knox EMS and the fire marshal's office.
