A five-vehicle crash Thursday between London and Corbin sent a couple people to area hospitals.
The crash happened on South Laurel Road, south of Fariston near the junction with KY 1189.
“It was just some chain-reaction wreck,” said Ray Philpot, of London. He was driving south on South Laurel Road.
“It happened pretty quick,” Philpot said, motioning toward one of the vehicles involved. “This black car was knocked right in front of me.”
The black vehicle, a Pontiac Vibe, was rear-ended by a second car, a Nissan Altima, according to Philpot.
The Vibe was then forced into oncoming traffic, and hit a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Philpot.
A gray Kia was also rear-ended, and a Suzuki was involved in the crash as well.
Others involved in the crash were Hayley Smith, Chastity Owens and Emily Burkhart, but it was unknown at press time who was injured, who was driving what and the extent of their injuries.
“It just happened so fast,” Philpot said. “There was no time to do anything — just a few seconds.”
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies worked the crash, with assistance from the Lily Volunteer Fire Department, Ambulance, Inc. of Laurel County, and Laurel County EMS. Traffic on South Laurel was halted for more than an hour while crews removed the vehicles. Only one of the five vehicles involved, the Suzuki, could be driven from the scene.
