CORBIN —

Young and old aspiring zombies gathered at the Corbin Tourism Community Room Wednesday night to brainstorm for the second annual Halloween dance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.” This year’s dance will be Saturday, Oct. 30, at dusk, immediately following the community Trick-or-Treat.
According to Main Street Manager Sharae Myers, the actual starting point of the dance has yet to be determined; however, where the dance ends will be up to the crowd. This year, the music and the zombies will continue up Main Street until everyone lining the street has had a chance to see the dance.
Plans are in the works this year for a band to entertain the crowd at Nibroc Park immediately following the dance.
“Since a good many of our last year’s zombies came from Williamsburg, we’re working on holding a second dance there,” said Myers.
Although the general dance moves will be the same, this year the instructors plan to use the experienced zombies to add a bit more excitement to the dance.
“Rather than hold tryouts in advance for the parts of Michael Jackson and his girlfriend, this year we’ll wait until practices are well under way to see who will best fit the parts,” said Melissa Bond, one of the returning dance instructors.
Practices for the Thriller dance will be at the Corbin Middle School gym from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 8. There’s no sign-up required and no age limit for the dancers.
