CORBIN —
Times-Tribune Staff Report
Dozens of community members are fighting hunger by joining KCEOC Community Action Partnership and Kentucky Harvest Southeast’s Empty Bowls Project.
The purpose of The Empty Bowls Project is two-fold — to raise awareness of the hunger which surrounds residents in Knox County, and to raise money to feed the hungry by supporting the Christian Life Food Pantry in Barbourville.
KCEOC Kentucky Communities Crafts potter Teresa Pope has made 150 bowls for the Empty Bowls Project. Supporters of the project can visit KCEOC Kentucky Communities Crafts to hand-paint the bowls, which have been sponsored by local businesses and organizations and will be donated to the Empty Bowls Project.
The Empty Bowls event will be April 29-30 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the Knox County Courthouse Square. The painted bowls will be displayed and can be purchased for $20. Homemade soup and chili will be served “soup-kitchen” style to fill the bowls.
All proceeds from the sale of bowls and soup will be donated to Kentucky Harvest Southeast to purchase food for Christian Life Food Pantry.
