Man hospitalized following interstate crash

CORBIN — A Florida man remained in the cardiovascular intensive care unit at the University of Tennessee Medical Center late Tuesday where he was airlifted after a crash.

The crash happened about 7:35 a.m. at the 1 mile marker along Interstate 75 after Nathan Stone, 76, of Wildwood, Fla., lost control of his 2001 Chevrolet truck, according to Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell.

Stone’s truck, which was hauling a small trailer, hit a guardrail on a bridge and then went over an embankment.

Deputy Todd Shelley investigated the crash. He was assisted by Deputy Brian Lawson, South Whitley Fire Department, Whitley County EMS and Jellico Rescue Squad.
